Fogh Depot

The simplest way to define Fogh Depot's music would be to call it seductive brooding jazz with an electronic twist. Fogh Depot conjoin the unconjoinable, combining distorted low resolution samples with pure, atmospheric piano chords, multilayered drones with bebop changes, four-to-the-floor beat with polyrhythm, simple, easy-to-remember tunes with sophisticated effects for woodwinds, springy bass grooves with timeless ambient soundscapes. Live performance targeted at acoustic perception binds this technological hodgepodge together, giving every listener a chance to find the right texture for a rainy evening and a glass of good scotch. Recommended if you like HIDDEN ORCHESTRA, XPLODING PLASTIX, BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE, KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE, DALE COOPER QUARTET Vinyl: thick sleeves + thick printed inner sleeves, 2 different vinyl colors, 180g vinyl, free download code Cd: nice digipak packaging Stream: www.denovali.com/foghdepot

Fogh Depot continues its quest for the fifth element, experimenting at the confluence of jazz, neoclassical, and electronic music. Two years after their first S/T release, the Moscow- based trio presents a new album - Turmalinturm. Like the previous recording, this is a unique blend of ostensibly incompatible elements. A traditional academic approach fuses with lo-fi spontaneity. The raw and vivid texture of the bass springs forward from a modular sterility. Turmalinturm's listeners get to choose how to approach the album. Some will discover the same pensive melancholy sounds that Fogh Depot started with. Others will find lighter, brighter, occasionally even euphoric motifs. Recommended if you like Xploding Plastix, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble or The Cinematic Orchestra. Vinyl: thick matte covers + thick printed inner sleeves, 2 different vinyl colors, 180g vinyl, free download code Cd: nice digipak packaging Stream: www.denovali.com/foghdepot
