Den legendariske regissören Sam Peckinpah ger oss filmen Konvoj som baseras på C.W. McCalls hitlåt Convoy. När ett gäng lastbilschaufförer med Martin Penwal (Kris Kristofferson) i täten blir måltavlor för korrupta poliser tar de saken i egna händer. Konvojen kör rakt genom vägspärrar och farthinder medan de jagas genom flera av USA:s delstater. När nyheten om konvojen sprids får de hjälp från oväntade håll, och den olagliga protesten växer sig större och större och skapar intresse bland journalister över hela landet.
