In 'The Hound of the Baskervilles (Parts 1 and 2)', based on the most well-known Sherlock Holmes story of them all, Holmes travels to Dartmoor to unravel the murder mystery that has haunted the Baskerville family for generations. 'A Study in Scarlet' is based on the very first Sherlock Holmes story, in which Holmes must track down a relentless killer when the dead bodies of a string of victims are discovered, all with the word 'Rache' (German for 'revenge') written in blood next to where they are lying. In 'The Boscombe Valley Mystery', Holmes must prove that a young man found next to the dying, brutally beaten body of his tyrannous bully of a father is not guilty of his murder. In 'The Sign of Four', Holmes and Watson are intrigued by the case of Mary Morstan, whose father disappeared ten years previously. Every year since, Mary has received a pearl from a mystery benefactor, and she now requires the Baker Street detective to act as her escort in a meeting with the unknown patron. In 'The Blue Carbuncle', a priceless jewel with a sinister history has been stolen from its owner, the Countess of Morcar. When it is found in a goose's crop, the events surrounding how it got there and who the true thief is are puzzles only a genius such as Sherlock Holmes can unravel. This was the last episode in this series (which was one of the first TV series ever to be shot in colour), and was originally screened on 23rd December 1968.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD / Box Set</i>

With its use of exotic locations, and its engaging presenter with his idiosyncratic style, it influenced much of what was to follow. Progressing from the cultural effects of feudalism in medieval Europe to the birth of the Renaissance in fifteenth-century Florence, from revolutionary politics in France after 1789 to the growth of materialism in artistic and scientific discourse, Clarke did not just examine 'art', but wanted to reveal the spiritual and humanistic motives behind its creation. They join the human resistance movement in an attempt to overthrow the Daleks, who are mining the core of the planet for a sinister purpose of their own. In the first series, Reginald Tate plays Professor Bernard Quatermass, head of the British Rocket Group, an experimental research body. Awaiting the return of the first manned flight into space, Quatermass sees the rocket crash miles off course with two of its three-man crew having disappeared. Tests reveal the rocket was attacked, and in a London hospital the surviving crewman is undergoing a terrible metamorphosis. In 'Quatermass II' strange metallic meteorites rain down over Winnerden Flats, an eerie new town in the vicinity of a highly guarded chemical plant. Professor Quatermass (John Robinson) is intrigued to discover that contact with the meteorites causes an unusual infection, and is astonished to find that the chemical plant appears to be modelled after his own design for a moonbase - a design that enables life to thrive in an artificial atmosphere. Quatermass' investigation uncovers a sinister conspiracy that extends from government level to the zombie-like workers who will stop at nothing to protect the plant. In the third series, 'Quatermass and the Pit', Andre Morell stars as Quatermass, whose curiosity is aroused when ancient bones and a strange pod are dug up on a Knightsbridge building site. Closer inspection reveals the pod to be made of an unfeasibly strong material and to contain unidentifiable creatures inside it. Could this discovery begin to explain the string of disturbing events that have taken place in the area over the centuries, as well as the wave of sinister occurences that are now engulfing the entire city? A radical and controversial series at the time, 'Quatermass' developed many visual techniques that greatly influenced later BBC series like 'Doctor Who.'
