Desperately fighting to survive, will any of them escape? In the sequel, 'The Descent: Part 2' (2009), after Sarah Carter (Shauna MacDonald) is rescued from the Appalachian caves where several of her friends perished, she is made to go back and help to try and locate any other survivors. Sheriff Vaines (Gavan O'Herlihy) is not wholly convinced by Sarah's version of events, especially with regard to the creatures she claims she and her friends encountered in the caves, and so he insists on the expedition. Encouraged by her sister, Franny embarks on an affair with Malloy and it begins to re-awaken her passion and take over her life. However, the killer is still on the loose and amongst the suspects are Franny's stalker ex-boyfriend and a student of hers who delivers an essay about a serial killer... While Riccardo takes on the obstructive Vatican hierarchy, Gerstein must walk a tightrope between documenting and enabling the atrocities committed by his fellow SS officers.
