This double CD came into being when I celebrated my 75th birthday while touring Germany. But generally speaking, age plays no meaningful role for me. When it comes to music, age is completely irrelevant. Whether I play with newcomers or with seasoned musicians - as is the case on this live recording from the birthday tour - the focus is not on age, but on the shared joy of making music together. Most of the musicians you hear on this album are people I have known for a very long time. Since our very first rehearsal in a communist-run youth center in East Berlin many years ago, we have continued to grow together in terms of integrity, power, self-respect and performance. Fans from the very early days will quickly notice that the music presented here in no way falls short of my debut back then in West Germany.
