Peep Tempel: Tales (2024 Reissue) [Vinyl LP]

Australian trio The Peep Tempel return with their long-awaited third album Joy. Recorded and mixed with Anna Laverty at Sing Sing Studios. Central to Joy and The Peep Tempel's earlier albums is vivid storytelling. Characters in their songs are personified by varying vocal styles, with the band's rhythm section and off-kilter guitar sound, creating music that pounds, lurches and staggers around creating a perfect backdrop for each short story. With Joy - for the most part - is an exploration of the human state of mind. Human thought is a pure and true chaos and the album represents the full spectrum of it, from the paranoid, yet elated "Totality" to the stark, isolated landscape of "Constable."

Shepparton Airplane: Forecast [Vinyl LP]

GRUB's self-titled debut album is a 9-track dive into the beautiful mess of being human. Backed by a powerhouse lineup of WA heavyweights, Matilda Beales' songwriting is darkly funny, brutally honest, and utterly unapologetic, tackling everything from sobriety to purging hard feelings wrapped in B-grade horror imagery. Shifting from frantic garage-punk to infectious dark-disco, the record blends gritty rock energy with visceral beauty-a striking intro to a band refusing to be boxed in.

Scott Blake: Niscitam [Vinyl LP]

Almurta is driven by the twin guitars of Matt Chow and Ezra Dowling and powered by the rhythm section coupling familiar to fans of The Peep Tempel of Steven Carter on drums and Stewart Rayner on bass guitar. The recording perfectly captures the balance of the band's abrasive post-punk guitar sound, pounding rhythm section and highlights without any fear their craft of writing songs laden with memorable pop hooks. The album follows the band's 2016 debut self-titled album and takes its name from the Victorian town where it was recorded, by their guitarist and engineer Matt Chow on a family farm (Matt Chow (engineer) Rolling Blackouts C.F., The Peep Tempel, Death Wish). No Prize the opening track is no exception. The song captures the album's character, albeit with Steve Carter's abstract Cubism lyrics. ("No Prize" release date: 05-01-208)
