Set in Middle-Earth 60 years before events in 'The Lord of the Rings', 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' (2012) follows the adventures of Hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who, at the instigation of the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), suddenly finds himself co-opted into joining a company of 13 Dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) to help reclaim the Dwarves' lost kingdom of the Lonely Mountain from the clutches of a dragon. After setting out on their quest from the safety of Bag End, the band of travellers soon find themselves pitted against a range of strange and fearsome opponents, in addition to a small, slimy creature known simply as Gollum (Andy Serkis). In 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' (2013), while Gandalf heads south on his own, Bilbo, Thorin and the Dwarves enter the treacherous Mirkwood Forest on their way to the mountain. When they reach Lake-town Bilbo has to perform the role he was assigned at the start of the quest - to find a secret door that will lead him to the lair of Smaug the dragon (voice of Benedict Cumberbatch). In the final instalment, 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' (2014), Bilbo, Thorin and the other Dwarves have unintentionally released Smaug from the Lonely Mountain and endangered the residents of Lake-town. Bilbo has to make a difficult decision when Thorin puts his desire to find the royal jewel Arkenstone before his loyalty to his friends. Meanwhile, Gandalf discovers that the evil Sauron has returned, commanding a horde of Orcs to attack the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo and his friends must fight for their survival as five armies meet in battle. He persuades her to leave her husband and go back with him to Troy, sparking a war between the Mycenaeans, led by Menelaus's brother Agamemnon (Brian Cox), and the armies of Troy, led by Prince Hector (Eric Bana). The City of Troy, governed by King Priam (Peter O'Toole) has never before succumbed to seige or battle, but Agamemnon and the Mycenae Greeks have a formidable ally: the great and seemingly indomitable Achilles. Capturing the mighty beast, Wilson brings Kong back to New York, earmarking him as the greatest attraction to come to Broadway. In order to evade capture Sonic relies on small-town police officer Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) and as the pair flee from Robotnik they learn about loyalty and friendship. In 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' (2022) Sonic and Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) team up to defeat Dr Robotnik and Knuckles (Idris Elba) as both sides search for an emerald that has the power to destroy the world. Can Sonic and Tails find the jewel before it's too late? Finally, in 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' (2024), Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are tasked with catching and stopping Shadow the Hedgehog (Keanu Reeves) who was created as part of a secret government experiment and has now escaped confinement. Shadow possesses the ability to teleport and has super strength, making him a formidable opponent. While exploring the palace, Marie-Josèphe discovers that a mermaid (Fan Bingbing) is being held captive in a pool beneath the building. She learns of the mermaid's healing powers and assumes that she is there to provide care for ill citizens, but the truth is revealed to be a much darker affair. They soon live to regret opening it however, as each move they make releases different wild animals and later Alan Parrish (Williams), a grown man who has been trapped inside the game since he was 12 years old.
